Are you crazy! uniforms are more expensive than jeans and normal clothing. I wished my kids didn't have to pay uniforms. They are very expensive. more than the clothes you buy in wall- mart or woolworth or stores like that.

i used to live in arizona,im from michigan.when i was there i decided to do schooling online but then i got bored and a little jealous when i saw other kids leaving school and hanging out.so i quit the online school and went to westview high school.after school everyone would hang at like the local McDonald's or Burger King or whatever fast food place was near.the movie theaters is also another place and other kids were always having house parties.i lived by glendale by the cardinals stadium.your lucky i wish i could move back to arizona because there is this school in Tolleson(i think its in tolleson) that does night school and day.and the best part is you get to pick how many classes you wanna take a day and there is never any school on fridays.(sorry,to much info) but staying at home does get boring.im not sure which side of phoenix u live in but you should try regular school.ur choice but have fun,LUCKY.! enjoy the weather oh yea i forgot to ask.! are you mexican? if you are it will be easier for you to find friends if you get home schooled or go to school.just hang where you see teens.Hope you find friends.!!

What is it like living in Phoenix, Arizona

What is it like living in Phoenix, Arizona?
My husband and I would like to move to phoenix Arizona within the next year and half or two years. Is it worth living there? Is the cost of living expensive? How is the housing there? Do more people live in apartments or in regular houses? Are the schools there good? What about churches? We also need a great Non-denominational or baptist church. Any suggestions, advice, etc welcome :) oh yeah, sorry for all the questions, but we are from central Pennsylvania and don't know much about the area. Details , please :)

Its nicer than pennsylvania thats for sure

It is beautiful!! It would definitely be worth it. It is very hot though, so be prepared for that. Housing is pretty pricey there, you could probably get a nice 4 bed 3 bath 2 car garage for $450-500k. Most people typically live in regular houses, but if an apartment is what you want, then go for it!! I would just want to be making payments on a house that you own , and get something in return, should you sell it. An apartment is like flushing $$$ down the toilet. There are tons of schools in Phoenix, I'm sure there are some very good schools there. Churches, once again, are like schools. There are many, many, many!!! Just when you get to Phoenix, ask around for a non-denominational or baptist church. Just try some out, and find one with nice people and programs, that you like. Definitely move, if you can afford it. It will cost a pretty penny, but if money is not a problem, you will not regret it!

the biggest thing is the heat, today will be 101, no real big trees for shade, lots of apartment, seems like there on every block, we live in one, 739 for a 2 bed 1 bath. equal amount of houses and apartments, lots of churches, they can be found just about on every other block as well.... lots of schools, jobs are few now unless u are a nurse, but that could change by the time u get here, lots of stores., 4 Walmarts very close to us and 2 Fry's ,1 Safeway, everything u need....more stores then houses

There is a very nice baptist church called North Phoenix Baptist Church on 5757 North Central Avenue. The pastor Dan Yeary has a very nice service every Sunday. As for the schools, you can learn about the great schools Phoenix has to offer for public, private and charter schools at www.phoenix.gov/EDUCATN/schdist.html

For much less money you will receive as good or better an education in this field at a local community college than you will at a private college.

Which community college in Phoenix, Arizona has the best nursing program?
I would like to know which school has the best education and teachers for nursing. I also would like to know if Gateway Community College is better or worse than Phoenix Community College. Nevertheless I would appreciate the input of anyone who attended any community college in phoenix and were in a nursing program.

Place the name of each school separately into your favorite search engine and then add the phrase reviews and ratings. Compare and contrast them.

In PA you could probably manage a personal care home but not a nursing facility. I would call and talk to some directors at Personal Care Homes, and consider working towards your bachelor's b/c there is a need for health care administrators and they pay is good, but you do have a lot of headaches.

Chandler (not downtown), or Gilbert are pretty good areas. All have very good schools and are very family friendly! Stay away from Phoenix (ghetto) and Tempe ( party area because of the college) if your looking for a place to raise kids.

2
We are also looking to move to Arizona and I have also been doing some research. I'd like to suggest that you check out Goodyear, Surprise and Litchfield Park - all north northwest of Phoenix. Good luck!

3
Good areas suggested. Work, unless your college educated medical or technology there is no, I repeat no work in Maricipa county.

4
One more area to add to the mix is the North Peoria, North Glendale area...the Northwest side of the city. Peoria, especially the north side of Peoria, has two new High Schools, new k-9 schools with full day kindergarten for now, great shopping, a wonderful brand new Library and neighborhood pool that is open. Our kids were small when we moved here. They received a great education and have all gone on to finish college. Welcome to our state

5
I recently moved to Queen Creek which is southeast of phoenix. I LOVE it here. Its close enough to the amenities, but also far enough to have that small town feel. The rent here is also less than some of the cities that are closer to downtown phoenix.

6
Comparative school information is published. An on line search should give you some good insights. Last time I looked, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley have the best schools in the State. Scottsdale is a large town - and not all schools are created equally within. I believe that Desert Mountain is the best high school for college bound students (high SAT scores and an IB program). It's zip code is 21659.

Glendale community college has a fine course under their Art Department. My favorite instructor is Kermit Lee. There are other photo classes give at other CC's such as Scottsdale CC (commercially oriented) and Phoenix CC with included forensic studies. Just do a search for photo classes available at the CC's in the Valley.

Be specific. I'm living in Tempe, Arizona right now and I'm 20 years old, but NOT currently in school (that's the problem, ya)? If I'm not currently enrolled, can I still join clubs and programs at ASU or Rio Salado?

I'm sure that you have to be in the school to go to the school's programs. Why don't you go to a program that you enjoy at a local academy that you can sign up at or find some new people at your job?

Go to your local Public Library. Join a Youth Group at a local church. Volunteer. Go to the pool - when it warms up. Go to the movie theater. Walk your dog - pets are great conversation starters. Good luck!

I'm moving to Phoenix, Arizona in about 5 years...?

I'm moving to Phoenix, Arizona in about 5 years...?
I'm currently a sophomore in high school and I am currently planning on moving my life from New York City, to Phoenix Arizona. I just have a few questions so can anyone please help? - How much is rent for a one bedroom apartment? -Are jobs difficult to find? How much is an airline flight from New York City to Arizona? -Is it really warm all year round? For the most part, New York is freezing and cold. Thanks a million!

Unfortunately, Phoenix is set to self destruct in 3 years. Seriously, answering these questions for five years from now is just not going to work. There is no way to tell if the job situation will improve (we have 9% official unemployment right now, which is a real unemployment rate of about 18%). There is no way to tell you rents, because they may go up or down.Currently, a decent one bedroom goes for about $500 to $700 per month. But you can rent an entire house for about $800 per month right now. And if you can come up with a downpayment, buying a house would result in a mortgage cheaper than that. There is no way to tell airline flight prices either. Five months from now might be predictable. Five years, no. As for warm all year round, all I can say is that it has been warm all year as long as humans have inhabited the area (the last 700 years) but one never knows if that is going to change either. Ask Al Gore. Temperature today was about 75o Farenheit. Temperature in July is 115o Temperature in August 100o and humid.

2
I'm sure our rent is cheaper than NYC, but you need to ask that question when you are ready to move. Jobs - right now the economy is less than desirable here and everywhere else. One can hope things will improve. Airline flights? That changes all the time - check for deals when you are ready to come out here. Is it really warm all year round? Well, yes. We are called "the valley of the sun" for a good reason. The summers are very hot and will take a little while for you to acclimate. Luckily about everything is air conditioned.

3
Apartments are pretty cheap in Phx, definitely amazingly cheap compared to NYC. You can find one for as low as $400 for a cheapy one, $700 or so for something nicer. Jobs are difficult to find anywhere right now, but fortunately it's a huge city, so there's tons of businesses around, you'll find something somewhere in the city even if you have a bit of a commute. It's not really "warm" all year round. It's warm in the spring and fall, and freakishly hot in the summer. In the summer, it's a high of at least 105 most days. (Often up to 115). In the winter, it gets chillier, it's been raining a lot lately. Not too cold, just a bit chilly. It only goes below freezing a few nights each winter, and it snows about once every 5-10 years.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of Living in the Phoenix City, Arizona?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of Living in the Phoenix City, Arizona?
Please help me, I really need opinions from other people for my presentation in school. Thanks in advance!
Phoenix - 7 Answers

1
disadvantage: it's kind of crowded in there...and hot advantage: a lot of shopping malls, University of Phoenix is there

2
I dont know, but ive been wondering the same thing cuz im going to arizona state when i get done with junior college...from what Ive been told its pretty cool to live there. ive passed though a couple times lots of malls, clubs, great college town, young

3
Advantages: If you like the heat, this is a good place to go. No rain/snow and tolerable winters...all i can think of right now since all of those "advantages" i listed are disadvantages in my opinion (i hate the heat and love rain and snow). oh, you can go swimming a lot :D Disadvantages: Fast-growing area, pollution, crowded, many red lights ran, heat (again, this could be an advantage or disadvantage). No beaches, no amusement parks.

4
Advatages: The weather is great in the winter and spring. Easy to find a job. Disadvantages: A lot of people. The heat in the summer is way too much.

5
What's good is jobs are good paying out here. I can't say anything bad about it I moved here a week ago.

6
These are some advantages of living in the city of Phoenix: Housing and Rent is not ridiculous, lots of jobs, plenty of entertainment, the gang activity is not as bad as other big cities, lots of hot women, no tornadoes/earthquakes/snow storms or hurricanes, you can make weekend trips to Vegas, California or Mexico, flights out to these places are cheap from Phoenix. Disadvantages: Very hot summers (only good about that, girls wear less clothing), traffic congestion, smog, dusty, no real cultural diversity (no china town, little Italy etc...), no beach, bad football team and Red Light Cameras.

7
well i am 19 and have lived here since i was 6 (i moved from the northeast) the disadvantages are...the 110 degree weather during the summer (unless you like hot weather), it's VERY crowded and driving is HORRIBLE, and there is lots of violence, gang, and vandalism problems (unless you live in a good area which those are becoming few and few). The advantages however are the weather from like March to May is really nice and you can pretty much swim for 8-9 months out of the year, there is always something to do since it's such a big city, and there is TONS to do in the state alone without much driving time. Oh and during the winter you can drive 2 hours to Flagstaff and play in the snow then come back home and have 70 degree weather. It's pretty sweet. Hope it helped!
