When are the cheapest days to fly to Phoenix

When are the cheapest days to fly to Phoenix?
My friends and I want to take a trip to Phoenix, Arizona sometime after school ends June 4. When are the cheapest days to fly to Phoenix from Detroit Metro Airport? Would it be cheaper for us to just drive? There are four of us.

It may be cheaper to drive, but it will take longer. The cheapest days to fly are generally Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

2
Driving will probbaly be cheaper if you split the gas 4 ways. Wednesdays are the cheapest day to fly usually.

Where is a good place to hold prom in Phoenix, Arizona?

Where is a good place to hold prom in Phoenix, Arizona?
I am VP at my school and partly in charge of picking a prom theme. We are planning to do a masquerade. Where would be a good place to hold it in the general area of Phoenix or Glendale? Oh and we would not like to do it at a golf course or country club sice it has been done here many times.

My junior prom was held at the Bank One (now Chase) building, downtown. It was on the 2nd to top floor, it was beautiful seeing all the Phoenix lights at night. Also one of my homecomings was held at the Science Center that was pretty awesome.

Gold coast in Glendale is a good place. They had a Cessna that I used to rent from them, so I spent a lot of time with them. I never flew in one of their helicopters, but I did get to know a lot of the instructors there and they are all a bunch of good guys. Their business policies are great also. They are involved (or at least a few years ago were) with a bunch of commercial helicopter operations doing things like filming for movies and tv shows, they had a few over seas contracts also. The flight school was not a money making venture for them (they didn't loose money either), it was more of a passion of the owner to help out people wanting to learn to fly helicopters. A big plus to this type of company is you have a foot in the door with the company. You may not get a job with them when you are done, but knowing people in the industry opens other doors for you. I have flown at a lot of different places and this honestly is one of the best places you can end up at. Do your research, but do check them out.

My husband and I are thinking about moving to Arizona, Phoenix or Mesa, any advice?

My husband and I are thinking about moving to Arizona, Phoenix or Mesa, any advice?
Right now my husband and I live in a very small town in Kentucky. We want to make the move to Phoenix or Mesa, Arizona. What we need is some advice on jobs, apartments, cost of living, and the school Mesa Community College, if anyone attends. We want to get out of this small town and go somewhere that is warmer in the winter and I don't care about heat in the summer. We need a change and think Arizona would be perfect, but we have to iron out details before we can go. Does anyone have any advice?

The heat is really debilitating there in the summer. Over 110. My friend got dehydrated walking into the supermarket from the parking lot in Phoenix and decided to move to FL, Most of her neighbors left for the summer so the place cleared out. A lot of the stores there close at 5 PM in the summer.

I'm from back east and I've lived here for a year. Let me break it down for you. PROS: * Fantastic weather (from about mid-October through early May) * Dry air. You don't have to worry about mold, mildew, or car rust. Best of all, there are virtually no mosquitoes = ) * Gorgeous sunsets, beautiful desert landscape and fauna * Affordable housing/property costs * Modern infrastructure and a good freeway system. For a city of its size, Phoenix's traffic is really not too bad CONS: * The summer heat * Low wages * HIGH utility bills, especially in the summer when you'll have your A/C running 24/7 * Very little cultural diversity (Mexicans and Native Americans, that's about as diverse as it gets in Phoenix) * Horrible, rude drivers (AZ is #1 nationwide in hit-and-run accidents, which proves it's not just my imagination) * Rampant panhandling and solicitation * Too many chain restaurants and a lack of ethnic food (except Mexican) * Too many meth-heads * Too much white trash * Too much skin cancer * Downtown Phoenix is purely a business district with very little in the way of nightlife or entertainment (other than the sports arenas) * CRIME. A huge problem here. Arizona is #1 nationwide in identity theft and #4 in car theft (trailing only CA, TX and FL) * Illegal immigration - another huge problem here * Phoenix's public schools are putrid; AZ's public education system is ranked #49 nationwide * High rates for car registration and insurance * The people - overall I'm just not finding the folks in Phoenix to be very intelligent, sophisticated, cultured or mannered (just an opinion) I'm not out to trash Phoenix, I just want you to have all the facts. And as you might guess, I've made the decision to move out.

Spring Break at Deer Valley high school for this school year will be March 14-18. The school districts vary slightly around the valley - they're not all out the same exact week. Pictures of Phoenix can be found on the internet quite easily.

Umm, it sucks? During most of the year it's hot. Then there is about 1 month of extreme cold. That's pretty much it (:

I have been to AZ quite a few times in the million years I've been on this planet. Teenagers there are pretty much like teenagers everywhere else. But keep in mind that everyone is different. Chances are, you'll find someone you'll get along with. And, chances are, you'll find someone you don't. There are stereotypical groups, as there are anywhere. The high Mexican population constitutes the presence of "Cholos" and "Cholas", or people who think they are. These are like, gangsters, sorta? Just be watchful. Don't say or do anything to upset a person. Mind your own business and keep to yourself. Ignore crude students as often as possible. Don't draw so much attention to yourself! These are just ways to ensure your safety. I would suggest you use them for that purpose. Good luck at your new school! Keep in touch with your old friends, too. :]

3
You mean Phx or the metro area? It's 9,000 sq miles, so its really big. There's 35 towns around it. But there's alot to do, nothing less or more than other places though. You will get used to it. You may notice that it's newer looking

4
I have lived in AZ my whole life. I just graduated HS and I would say that the people are not that different than those from other states. There is a wide variety of people, just be true to yourself and connect with people similar to yourself. Don't be be swayed by others. Overall, I think it is a good place to live. I have learned a lot and have some great memories. Don't forget things will take time though. Just keep a positive attitude and everything will fall into place.

The only one I know of is the Scottsdale Culinary Institute. http://www.chefs.edu/ My nephew graduated from there a couple years ago (Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts program) and since then, has had a great job making great money. They DO offer financial aid if needed, and versatile schedules and courses.

Hey! Phoenix College also has a really culinary program. I researched both and chose PC based on the faculty. Some fine chefs there. (602) 285-7765 http://www.dexknows.com/category_Cooking+Schools_Arizona_Phoenix-1.html

The weather, that's about it. It has a lot of violent crime thanks to all the immigrants from good old Mexico. I think 40% of all crime is by illegals.

Waiting to Exhale, Song of the South, The Gauntlet, Psycho, Raising Arizona, Jerry Maguire, The Prophecy, Used Cars, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (used as a stand-in for San Dimas, California), U Turn, Eight Legged Freaks, Private Lessons, Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie, Never Been Thawed, Just One of the Guys, Terminal Velocity, Taxi, and The Banger Sisters were all shot here. Several museums are scattered around the valley including the Phoenix Art Museum. One of the most well-known museums in the area is the Heard Museum just north of downtown. It has over 130,000 square feet (12,000 m²) of gallery, classroom and performance space. Some of the signature exhibits include a full Navajo hogan, the Mareen Allen Nichols Collection containing 260 pieces of contemporary jewelry, the Barry Goldwater Collection of 437 historic Hopi kachina dolls, and an exhibit on the 19th century boarding school experiences of Native Americans. The Heard Museum attracts about 250,000 visitors a year. We also have the Arizona Science Center, Fleischer Museum, Hall of Flame Firefighting Museum, Arizona Historical Society Museum, Phoenix Museum of History, the Phoenix Zoo, and the Pueblo Grande Museum and Cultural Park Old town Glendale also has interesting places, including a Bead museum and Mystic shops for anything with astrology, Tarot, Runes, Aura reading, etc etc etc. We have a HUGE gay pride festival that is an absolute ball to attend. Tempe is a fun University town with tons of things to do locally. As far as PHX (the "main" city) there's not too much. The most of this stuff is in the PHX metro area. We have a largely Hispanic demographic. At the 2007 U.S. Census estimates, the city's population was: 76.7% White (Including white mixed with others) 48.1% non-Hispanic-White alone 6.0% Black or African American 2.4% American Indian and Alaska Native 2.7% Asian 0.2% Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander 14.1% some other race 1.9% two or more races 41.5% Hispanic or Latino of any race

Are you trying to be a veterinarian, or just a veterinary assistant or technician? The only veterinary school in Arizona is the University of Arizona, which is in Tucson, not Phoenix. Kaplan College is a for-profit online school, definitely not a veterinary school. They do, however, offer online programs for veterinary technicians.

Best schools and neighborhoods in Arizona Phoenix area with good housing?

Best schools and neighborhoods in Arizona Phoenix area with good housing?
Thinking about moving from Southern California to Phoenix area - the want list is below - any wisdom is appreciated: 1.Good school district 2.Low crime/gangs 3.Good family housing (nice 4 bedroom home in the 250K range?) 4. Open Space (Parks, trails, etc.) I've received mixed signals about places like Surprise, Gilbert, Chandler, and Casa Grande. I heard Scottsdale is nice but housing is pricey. Thanks for your help!!!!

Come to Gilbert! Award winning schools, and the real estate market at the moment is a buyers market. there is a 4 bedroom in my area that is only 195k. Gilbert pretty much has everything you could want. Chandler is also nice if you are in the right spot, there is a lot of crime in some parts. You might not want to move to Casa Grande, its along way in to Phx from there. Good Luck!

2
Yes, Scottsdale is the pricey richy rich area. Peoria, North Glendale, Chandler and Gilbert are good communities with great schools.

3
TRY SURPRISE KINGSWOOD PARKE love it awesome community within minutes of store malls trails ponds no crime here maybe in other parts but none I know of we have cameras up no problem live on cold a sac awesome many people good people here we all are a family watch out for on another good luck and check us out awesome place

4
You should actually be in Scottsdale Az. Scottsdale has beautiful housing and the best school district in the state. Scottsdale isnt that pricey. 4 bedroom housing would probobly be around 300,000. Right off the 101 (its nawt a bad place right off the freeway) but i lived in that area for 6 years then we moved down to the paradise valley area which is also a good school district area. If you need anymore info you can email me!!!

List of greater Phoenix area Excelling schools: http://phoenix.about.com/library/blschoolsexcelling.htm List of greater Phoenix area Highly Performing schools: http://phoenix.about.com//library/blschoolshighperforming.htm Phoenix area home price analysis (Dec 06-Dec 07): http://phoenix.about.com/library/blhomepricesQ42007.htm My opinion: Look for housing near the types of businesses where you will likely work so your commute isn't horrendous. There are great schools in nearly all parts of metro Phoenix. Rule of thumb is the further out you live, the bigger the house you'll get for your money. Exception to that rule - Northeast. Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, Carefree/Cavecreek = expensive. Paradise Valley is the most expensive area. I believe the median price there is $1 mil. If you don't want to live in an HOA, look for older, more established neighborhoods. Gilbert is probably one of the most popular suburbs in metro Phoenix, and probably has one of the highest foreclosure rates right now as well, creaitng a buyer's market. It's very suburban and very residential, but also very nice if that's the kind of life you want. You will probably have a longer commute living in Gilbert unless you are lucky enough to find a good job in that area. Anthem is a beautiful planned community north of Phoenix, but you will have a hefty commute living there. We have friends that live up there and it's gorgeous (and right now, houses are a steal, too), but I could never handle the commute. There are lots of nice areas in metro Phoenix. Good luck in your search!

6
the southside. no i'm joking. don't move there. if anything, it violates the 4 things you require. Scottsdale is expensive, surprise is nice, yet kind of empty.

7
Mesa or Chandler.
